(Revised: 08/15/12)

The Crane Runway Location dialog defines the location of each crane in a shape.

The cranes should be located along the same wall that the frames are located along or the opposite wall, the crane runway should run perpendicular to the primary framing.

  Notes:

Options:

Crane Name/Crane Name 2

The Crane name is the name of the Crane inserted that was created in the Crane Schedule.

Types:

Under hung Cranes:

Flexible Suspension – Hangers are used for reactions less than 40 kips (not including impact).

Rigid Suspension – Brackets are used for reactions less than 40 kips (not including impact).

Top Running Cranes:

Brackets are used for reactions less than 55 kips (including impact). There are three standard crane column brackets for 25, 40, and 55 kip reactions.

Stepped Columns (Fixed Base or Pinned Base) for reactions greater than 55 kips (including impact). The stepped column is used for reactions greater than 55 kip and when a separate crane support column would be uneconomical.

Auxiliary Column for reactions greater than 55 kips (including impact).

Crane Bracket Shape is only available as a for Hot Rolled shape.

Start Frame is the frame on the left of the wall you choose to locate the crane on where the crane will start.

Start Adjust. Is the dimension to the left of the Start frame the crane will go past the center line of the frame.

End Frame is the frame on the right side of the wall you choose to locate the crane on where the crane will end.

End Adjustments: The dimension that the crane runway extends past the centerline of the Start Frame or End Frame.

  Notes:

An interior adjustment 1/8” between each interior frame is used, 1/4” between each beam.

Aisles: The Aisles are counted along the Start Frame line, based on the number of interior columns that are on the Start Frame line. End posts and turned interior columns are ignored when defining the aisle since they cannot support crane brackets.

Use Soldier Col. Support: If this checkbox is used, then the system will generate crane brackets and loads on the soldier columns, if not checked it will skip them.
