Secondary Data - Properties

(Revised: 04/01/08)

The Secondary Data - Properties screen is used to define the secondary connection and conditions on Special Secondary Parts.

Connection Tab:

The Connection Search options helps reduce the number of details that are displayed in the "Details…" button.

  How to use:

When searching for a new detail, it may be easier to filter just using the Surface, Member, Shape, and Depth.

Set the Lap, Clip, and Connections to "Not Applicable".

Selected Data from List:

Detail

The detail selected should match the condition required.

Sec to Sec Clip

Defines the Secondary to Secondary Clip requirements for the connection.

  How to use:

Do not locate the Secondary to Frame clips on this screen, they should be located in Frame - Data.

Distance from Work Point

Locations of interior connections.

Nominal / Detailed

Nominal Locations are from the end of the input segment locations not including adjustments (Sample: From the Building Line).

Detailed Locations are from the end of the actual detailed member including adjustments (Sample: Building Line minus 1/4").

Applied Length Adjustment

Dimension difference from the Nominal segment length to the final Detailed length.

End 1 or End 2 Laps are defined as 0/0/0 (DO NOT REVISE). The Lap is defined by the location of the Interior Frame Locations.

Lap Length

Nominal Laps for Continuous conditions at End 1 or End 2.

List: (Sample Continuous End 1, Simple End)

The Connection List locates patterns and connections that occur along the special secondary member.

A Lap detail will include all the Lap Holes, Flange Brace Holes, Holes to the Frame, and End Holes.

  How to use:

When defining a Special Secondary Member, always try to define the actual conditions. (Avoid tricking the system).

When revising a standard continuous girt to have a simple lap at one end, re-define the Detail to be Simple.

List: (Sample Jamb)

On Jambs, the Connection List locates connections that occur from End 1 of the Jamb.

  How to use:

The Jamb at End 2 is adjusted by -3 3/4" for the PG1 Clip Adjustment.

The Header Detail will locate the holes above the header by +1 5/16".

Holes/Subunit Tab:

The Holes and Sub Units listed are "Read Only", they cannot be revised on this tab.
