DO NOT Modify the Canopy Beam length
for the Cut-in Plate at the Column. Per Dave Shaw.
|
|
Modify the Canopy Beam length for the Facade Post
Connection.
|
|
|
|
1.
Select the frame
line that the Canopy Beam will be modified from the Active Frame list. 2.
Select the
member ID for the Canopy. 3.
Select the
“Plane to Member” from the Intersection
Methods list.
|
|
|
4.
Select the Modify Frame check box if it is not
already checked. 5.
Select Modify End2 |
|
|
6.
Select the Same
Frame as the Canopy Beam in the Intersecting
Plane – Frame list. 7.
Select the
Member of the Column that the Canopy Beam is attaching to from the Memb list. 8.
Select the
element of “Column Flange Outside” from the Elem list. 9.
Select the Out of Plane Offset check box and
insert the offset as the Dimension from the Column Flange Outside to the
Cut-in Plate on the Facade Post FI. |
|
Out of Plane Offset Calculation (Facade Projection) +
(Column Frame Offset) – (Facade Post Depth + Cut in Plate Projection) =
Out of Plane Offset
Example: (Facade Projection) =
6’-0” (Column Frame Offset)
= 8 1/2” (Facade Post Depth +
Cut in Plate Projection) = 8 1/2” + 3/16” = 8 11/16” 6’-0” + 8 1/2” – 8
11/16” = 5’-11 13/16” Out of Plane Offset =
5’-11 13/16”(5/11/13) |
|
|
|
10.
Verify Modify End2 is selected in Intersection Methods and select the “Intersect” button. The
intersection points should be shown in the list. 11. Note the Z dimension
in the Intersection Points; this is the Elevation for the Top of the Canopy
Beam at the Facade post. This elevation can be used to calculate the location
of the Cut in plate and Stiffeners on the Facade post. |
|
|
12.
The Canopy Beam
Length has now been revised to Facade Post Connection. 13. Now go into Frame / Member Data and put the plate on
end 2 of the Canopy. |
