Our Mission:
To meet the career development needs of VP Buildings' Associates.
VP University transcends the traditional boundaries of a university by providing development for VP employees at every level. As a corporate university that spans the nation, VPU provides all employees structured programs for career planning and education – whether degree-seeking or continuing education. By investing in individuals, VP University helps them grow professionally by providing an understanding of the industry’s business and VP's direction for the future.
Opportunities for development are provided through on-site workshops, local classes at schools and universities, and public seminars. Also, classes available on line or through reading and correspondence courses are available.
VPU also offers its services to our builders who may want to join with VP employees or host a seminar of their own.
While there are many options for employees to address their development needs, there are three primary methods of delivery:
Option 1:
Dedicated Seminar/Workshop/Training (Local). This option works best when there are a number of employees at one location who either require the content or would benefit from it. That can be determined by comparing their need to the course description and associated competencies listed in the course guide. The advantage in this option is it allows the facility to develop an in-house group within a given time convenient to them and avoid the cost of travel
Option 2:
Regional Seminar/Workshop/Training. This option works best when there are needs for development but fewer than a full class. Bringing together participants from a regional area allows the session to occur on a timely basis and offers the advantage of networking amongst the participants.
Option 3:
Open enrollment Seminar/Workshop/Training (Company wide). This option is used when there are identified needs at various locations across the organization and both the material and/or the time dictate this should be held in this manner. Courses of this nature would primarily be associated with specialized training, such as LDI or VP Command and the Product Seminars. The advantages are networking and making the learning available to the participants in a timely fashion. Being able to bring employees together may overcome the cost factor of travel.
VP University utilizes in-house expertise, contract instruction, and places of higher learning to deliver the seminars. Depending upon the need, location, time and cost, the best method of meeting those needs are decided upon by all parties involved.
The following pages reflect some but not all of VPU offerings. These are standard seminars, which can be taught as is or tailored to each location or need. In addition, consulting services and seminars developed specifically for a location or individual are available.
